“Mathematics being a compulsory subject of study, access to quality mathematics education is every child's right.”
As the Founder, Chairman, and Managing Director of SERC, I have witnessed firsthand the challenges facing our education system. Mathematics education in our schools is often beset with problems.
Students frequently struggle to keep up, not because they lack ability, but because the teaching methods do not cater to their learning pace.
Sharing a similar curriculum keeps education uniform, but not all students are able to learn the same subjects at the same pace.
I firmly believe that a shift in focus is needed in math teaching. We must move away from static learning environments to ones where a whole range of processes takes precedence.
These processes are fundamental to meaningful mathematical learning and must be intentionally embedded into classroom practice. They encourage deeper conceptual understanding rather than surface-level memorization, enabling students to reason, question, and apply mathematics with confidence. Such an approach respects individual learning pace while nurturing analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
These are the skills that define a true mathematician,
not just the ability to memorize formulas.
At SERC, we offer specially designed manipulatives that let students work practically until they are confident in the study material. Our Mathlab provides an extra method for struggling students to go over their coursework until they are comfortable with it.
We give students the opportunity to try us to show that it doesn't have to be a challenge to keep up with the rest of their classmates.
We have aligned our mission with the National Curriculum Framework developed by NCERT, which strongly suggests setting up a mathematics laboratory in every school. This is not just a suggestion; it is a necessity to help the exploration of mathematical concepts through activities and experimentation.
SERC is a commercial company, but we are driven by a distinct purpose. We aim at fostering innovative opportunities for the new generation. We are committed to ensuring hands-on learning opportunities for academic students, transcending economic barriers in India and the rest of the world.
